Our board

Stefanie Christmann

Founder and chairwoman of the Esel-Initiative. The journalist holds a Ph.D. in German Philology, has written several books - some of them on Eritrea - and is working at the German Federal Ministry of the Environment. Her hobbies are travelling and sculpting.

Michael Shohat

The vice chair and web master of the Esel-Initiative majored in psychology and holds a Ph.D. in political science. Works as product manager at an internet provider and spends his spare time with basketball, music and the internet.


Claudia Schlüter

Cashier of the Esel-Initiative. The mother of three works as a lawyer and tax counsellor. If possible, she spends her free time reading and riding horses.




Wedig von Heyden

Board member of the Esel-Initiative. Graduated in law and father of two, currently General Secretary of the German Science Advisory Board. His hobbies are reading, theatre, and music.


Sabine Wiegand

Board member of the Esel-Initiative. Worked in Human Resources, now dedicated to non-profit work. Likes to spend time with her family, friends, cat, reading, travelling and photography.
